Satellite
Space Time!
I've always loved the 'space look' that comes when you have near 0 atmospheric impact on lighting.
Lighting
The bright contrasts with the soft bouncing light across metallic surfaces and white bodies creates a very serene feeling.
Modeling Process
Modeling this satellite was fun, but challenging. At the time, I hadn't learned how to use geometry nodes to easily create circular arrays, and rather had to do some careful rotations around specific origin points. If I needed to change an arrayed object, I had to re-array it every time. I have since learned how to avoid that.
Where's the moon?
When I did these renders originally, I had included a lunar surface in the back. Unfortunately, I messed up the bumpiness of the surface and it took away from the renders, hence them not being included here.
Inspiration?
This satellite was modeled based on images of several different satellites available online.
Materials?
At this point, I still hadn't learned proper UV unwrapping and mapping, so once again my materials were basically just solid with bump maps. Nonetheless, the effects achieved were good.
